Waiting on Wednesday (4)

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

The Summer King is missing; the Dark Court is bleeding; and a stranger walks the streets of Huntsdale, his presence signifying the deaths of powerful fey.

Aislinn tends the Summer Court, searching for her absent king and yearning for Seth. Torn between his new queen and his old love, Keenan works from afar to strengthen his court against the coming war. Donia longs for fiery passion even as she coolly readies the Winter Court for battle. And Seth, sworn brother of the Dark King and heir to the High Queen, is about to make a mistake that could cost his life.

Love, despair, and betrayal ignite the faery courts, and in the final conflict, some will win…and some will lose everything.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that this my most anticipated book for the first quarter of 2011. You guys, I am so conflicted. You see, I enjoyed Wicked Lovely. It was an interesting enough story and kept my attention the whole way through. Something was missing, though. I decided, many months later, to pick up Ink Exchange to venture back into Melissa Marr's world to see if I'd like to continue the series.

And then I met the Dark King, Irial.

It was love at first sight. You can read my full reaction two posts down. Irial is pretty much the only book character that I have depicted so perfectly in my head that I cannot pick out a celebrity to cast him. (I tend to do that with all book characters because my brain isn't very creative.) But seriously, after meeting Irial and the intense history he had with Niall and the faerie court, I couldn't help myself. I was invested. I pushed through Fragile Eternity (which was awesome, but didn't have as much Irial as I'd prefer) only to be able to spend some quality time with him in Radiant Shadows.

Something happened in Radiant Shadows, which I can't say because it'll spoil, but it had me pacing and hyperventilating when I closed the book. And Darkest Mercy, the last book *sob*,comes out February 22, 2011. And I have to know what happens, because this is one of my absolute favorite series EVAR.

Anyway, back to like, 5 paragraphs ago.. I'm conflicted because I seriously am dying to know what is going to happen in the conclusion of the series, but it's going to be over. I don't know what I'm going to do to get my dark faery fix.

I also think this is probably the most beautiful cover of the series, which is saying a lot, because every single book cover in the WL series is sexy gorgeous hot. Not to mention they have beautiful names as well, agreed? So yeah, can't wait. Need now.

  2. So I probably shouldn't admit this, but I had never heard of the Wicked Lovely series (shameful, I know) before your reviews. So now I must read every single book because your reviews are amazing AND this book sounds like pure awesomeness. Plus the cover is ridiculously beautiful. So I guess what I'm trying to say is, there goes my book buying ban :)

  3. I read the first book about 5 zillion years ago. And then I can't even remember if I read the second. What happened!? I think at this point I am going to have to start over from the beginning.

My fave thought is the Wondrous Strange series by Lesley Livingston--have you read that? LOVE.

Side note: Guess who's gonna be a fairy for Halloween? :)
