Book Blogger Hop (8) aka "Everybody Has a Sad Sometimes."

Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Jennifer at Crazy For Books.

This Week's Question: "What are your feelings on losing followers? Have you ever stopped following a blog?"

My Answer: I haven't been here long, so I don't think I've lost any followers...yet. It would makes me feel like I'm not doing something well enough or fun enough. Perhaps that particular individual doesn't like how I express myself negatively or positively in reviews. I've seen bloggers chastised because their reviews were "too positive" (WTF? God forbid they like the books they read, you know?) Basically, you can't please everyone. I think once the initial shock of "OMG WHY DON'T THEY LOVE ME ANYMORE?!" wears off, I'd be a happier blogger just accepting that not everyone is going to like me or like how/what I say. I've got an amazing support group of blogger friends, so that's kind of my backbone.

As far as choosing to not follow a blog? I haven't done that yet. If I can't relate to the content or I don't read that particular genre, I won't follow it in the first place. Now if we're talking about Twitter, yes. I have chosen to unfollow. My thing is... if a I, a reader of your blog, am tweeting you and tell you how awesome your blog is or try and get to know you and you flat out ignore me multiple times, it really discourages me from wanting to start further conversation. Does that make me a mean person? I don't think so. It's just kind of embarrassing to compliment someone on different occasions and have them not even say thank you or even "hello." Sometimes that's all it takes, folks!

And I'm not one for drama, but I just had to rant a little. Sorry, guys :P Won't happen again for a long time!

What do you guys think? Agree? Disagree?

Have a FABULOUS weekend, all! Can't wait for IMMs on Sunday!

  1. YES TO THE BEING IGNORED ON TWITTER! I am pretty go-with-the-flow, but a few people I keep reaching out to have ignored me, and it's hard not to have feelings hurt! Though, it definitely makes me appreciate my Twitter besties ;)

  2. I agree on the twitter comment.. there's a few book blogs I follow on twitter & I sometimes wonder, is there even a person behind that computer screen? because every response seems to generated & they NEVER reply (or retweet)-- unless you're an author! or publishing company! Then you see their asses all over that tweet. So annoying.

  3. I feel semi-silly for semi-ranting on such a topic, but I'm a Pisces, so naturally I'm a crybaby! ;)

  4. I love your blog title because it's so true ^.^

Stopping by for the Blog Hop! (well actually stopping by because you had a post on the blog hop, am already reading your blog because I love the title so much)

As for twitter, the new setup on twitter seems to make @mentions from people you aren't following harder to find and respond in a timely manner.

  5. I totally agree with the twitter comments too. It's really disheartening when you make an effort to connect and then there is no response. I'm still really new at twittering. Happy Friday- I'm a new follower.

  7. I don't think i've ever unfollowed a blog in the past either, but the Twitter thing? yeah, i'm so bad at unfollowing people, sometimes i do it on purpose, sometimes i do it by accident. BUT i've never had that being ignoed thing, or maybe i'm just too flakey and I forget who i've tweeted most of the time anyways, so maybe if i am being ignored i'm just ignorant too it. BUT i always try and speak to everyone who tweets me, and if i ever did ignore them, it would totes be by accident.

  8. haha, that's not a rant, it's just being honest. I'm new to your blog and I really like it. I spent some time reading some of your past reviews, they were really good. I'm happily following you now :)

  10. I hear ya on the Twitter thing. I actually just unfollowed someone *gasp* because of the same reasons. But you're right - it just makes you appreciate the awesome people even more :)

  11. I haven't had this problem on Twitter yet, but if somebody were to ignore me I would probably unfollow them.

I have unfollowed some blogs that I started following when I first started blogging. I was pretty liberal about who I followed at first and it got to be too much. Now, if I realize that a blog is not updating much or I'm not reading it often then I will delete it so that I can pay more attention to those I do enjoy. It's not person, but I understand taking it somewhat personally when you lose followers. I try not to, but it's hard!
