Book Blogger Hop (9)

Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Jennifer over at Crazy for Books.

This Week's Question: "If you find a book that looks interesting but is part of a series, do you always start with the first title?"

My Answer: Yes, yes, yes. There's no way I can read a series without reading the entire set of books. That would basically be shafting yourself out of the full-bodied experience. I'm not cool with that. Plus, let's face it: I have a book addiction and not only do I like reading books, but I like collecting them. Sure, I've got over 100 books that I've bought and haven't read yet. "SO WHAT?" I ask you, because they look so pretty causing my book shelf to buckle. Seriously, I buy a lot of books. It's sick(ly awesome.)

Off to hop, people. Have a FABULOUS Friday! Is it your payday? Because it's mine. And I'm gonna go utilize a Half Price Books coupon. OH YES.

  1. "My name is Jen, and I have a book addiction..." Good job. The first step is admitting you have a problem ;)

  2. So please to have found your blog! I look forward to reading more of your posts.

  3. Just hopping through! I am the same way. I have over 100 books I haven't read yet, but I love buying books!

  4. Hi my name is Jamie and I'm a book addict too! Dropping by from the blog hop. I'm a new follower and I hope you have a great weekend!

  5. Hi Jen! I found you through the hop, and I'm now a follower. I LOVE your blog. And what you said about reading the book out of order. You never get the full experience of the series without reading the first novel first!

    Have a great weekend!

  7. Stopping by via Book Blogger Hop. Lovely blog! I feel the same way. I can't read out of order. I'm a new follower :)

  8. Great blog! I just found you on the hop and I'm now following. Oh, why didn't I know about your blog before now. Love it!

Here's my blog if you'd like to check it out! Daisy Chain Book Reviews

  9. Think of all the awesomeness people miss out on when they skip books! It would be like reading Shift without Reading Shade-don't do it! There is an entirely different experience in each book, and I like to read them in the order the author intended :)

    Love your post Jen!

  10. I can dive right into the middle of a book series if the series' story
    doesn't run chronologically.

That is to say, if each novel in a series is a stand-alone story (like Lee
Child's Reacher novels) then I don't feel the need to start with book one.

On the other hand, a series of books (like Richard Hatch's Battlestar
Galactica novels) can't be read out of sequence since each new book builds
upon the story of the previous entry in the series.

    Happy Book Blogger Hop Friday!

  11. I'm hopping by! The only time I read books out of order is when I am completely clueless that it is a series... It's only happened a couple of times though. Have a blessed weekend! :)
