Ghost story? Check.
Romance in a dire situation? Check.
Spooky premise with death mystery? Check.
Evil spirit threatening to foil the romance? Check.
Beautiful cover? Double check.

Seriously though, isn't that cover spookily frickin' sweet? You see her head and her hair and then your eyes travel down and... WHERE THE EFF DID SHE GO?! If that's not indicative of a ghost story, I don't know what is. The cover is vaguely familiar, like a lovechild of THIS and THIS. Whatever, guys. You know I can't resist a gorgeous cover.

I just recently heard about Hereafter, but I do love my YA ghost stories (you saw my review of SHADE, didn't you? Oh, you didn't? Well click HERE to get with the times!)Can you imagine how miserable and terrifying it'd be to wake up... in a river... not knowing how or why you're there, other than the fact that you lack a pulse, body, and heartbeat? Those are some pretty damaging realizations. I'm hoping that this book as as good as it sounds, though I'm a bit confused about ghost's powers to "will someone to live."

Great premise and I hope the execution is equally fabulous.

  1. I agree - great premise. And double agree on the cover!! Very pretty. I had not heard of this book before, so thanks for bringing it to my attention :-)

  2. Maybe she can possess his mind and will him to live that way? If so, that is super creepy! I have this book on my DAC list and I'm excited to read it!

    Great pick Jen!

  3. This one sounds wonderful, I love a good ghost story with a little romance in it. Great pick! I will be adding it to my list. =)

  4. Must read this book. If it's recommended by you and written by an author named Tara, can it get any better than that? ;)
