A Peek At My TBR (5)

Disclaimer: these are books that I WANT to read and are on my TBR list, not books that I necessarily own (unfortunately!) And if I do have any of them on my shelf, I'll specify :)

A Peek At My TBR is a feature inspired by Waiting on Wednesday by Jill at Breaking the Spine and Books To Pine For by The Story Siren. I did WoW for awhile, but honestly, there's never only one book I'm "waiting" on. And a lot of the books that I "pine for" aren't just up-and-coming books. There's still a ton of oldies but goodies that I'm just now discovering or want to read soon, and I feel like those deserve some recognition as well as the fresh meat.

After Obsession by Carrie Jones and S.E. Wedel

I really freaking loved Carrie's first novel, Need. Not too much a fan of Captivate and haven't yet read Entice, but I'm loving the premise for this future release. And yes, I love the cover, too. coughCOVERWHOREcough. The idea of possession by a river spirit is pretty scary to me. The idea of possession by ANYTHING AT ALL is petrifying, truly. But when a book has a cover like that, I'm willing to face my fear for the sake of an awesome storyline.

Other Words For Love by Lorraine Zago Rosenthal

I do have this book, but review books keep getting in the way of it. I have heard RAVE reviews of this book and I cannot wait to dig in myself. I've never been to New York (though I hope to some day!) but that doesn't mean I can't read about it and get myself pumped up for BEA 2012! (Crossing fingers that BEA 2012 actually happens for me.) Plus, it looks like a good, emotionally charged read. Those are my FAVORITE kinds of reads. Yay for books that make you feel ANYTHING.

Valiant by Holly Black
Published: June 19, 2006
I read Tithe back in 2009 and really freaking liked it. I am a huge fan of dark faerie tales. Duh, do I really need to point that out?! I have since bought the final two books in that series, but just haven't gotten around to reading them. I'll be honest, I was put off by the fact that Valiant doesn't feature Kaye and Roiben. But they are short reads and they have awesome covers and I absolutely want to read them sometime in the next 5 years. I need my faerie fix, dangit!

  1. LOVE Holly Black! I skipped Valiant on accident then read it after Ironside. It all still made sense :) I liked all three but Kaye and Roiben's story is my fav :)

  3. Love the cover for After Obsession! I still have to read Captivate and Entice. Other Words For Love is also one I really want to read. It sounds so wonderful. I still need to read some Holly Black, hopefully I'll get around to that soon.

  4. Thanks for mentioning After Obsession! I'm adding it to my TBR list right... now. Done. Also, I was wondering, since we share a love of fey... have you read The Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa? It's AMAZINGAWESOME x 10 and full of faerie goddnes :)

  5. I wasn't too much of a fan of Other Words for Love, but I feel like I was the only one in the world who felt lukewarm about it, lol. Didn't like Valiant as much as I did Tithe, but come on, it's still Holly Black, it's STILL GOOD.

  6. I've actually read VALIANT but not the rest of Holly Black's series yet - I definitely need to get on it! OTHER WORDS FOR LOVE looks fantastic, too.
