A Peek at My TBR (7)

Disclaimer: these are books that I WANT to read and are on my TBR list, not books that I necessarily own (unfortunately!) And if I do have any of them on my shelf, I'll specify :)

A Peek At My TBR is a feature inspired by Waiting on Wednesday by Jill at Breaking the Spine and Books To Pine For by The Story Siren. I did WoW for awhile, but honestly, there's never only one book I'm "waiting" on. And a lot of the books that I "pine for" aren't just up-and-coming books. There's still a ton of oldies but goodies that I'm just now discovering or want to read soon, and I feel like those deserve some recognition as well as the fresh meat.

Enshadowed by Kelly Creagh
Published: January 24, 2012 (wahhh!)
My review for Nevermore is the very first thing I ever posted on this blog. I pretty much lost my shizz over the sheer ridiculousness of that book. And I mean it was a good ridiculous. Nevermore was one of my top 3 books of 2011 and I have been waiting and waiting for a release date and cover to be announced. But FRICKIN A, I didn't think it'd be 9 months away! Like... in a whole different year. Not to mention Kelly Creagh is probably the nicest author I've ever met. She's so gracious and sweet and not to mention she has a knack for writing Varen Nethers. Go buy Nevermore and meet him. Now. I'm praying to the book gods for some divine miracle that will cause this book to come out like, tomorrow. I'll keep you posted on my success.

Burn Bright by Marianne de Pierres

I'm pretty much going to do every possible thing I can to get my hands on this. Apparently it was pubbed in Australia and I'm not sure if it's coming to the States. But can we please gaze upon that cover? HOW SICK IS THAT? Remember those Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark book? It kinda reminds me of that, only it's a little bit pretty, too. It sounds like some sort of twisted horror-dystopian-fantasy hybrid and I love it. I cannot lie. I'm a sucker for pretty covers, but you already knew this. Throw in a good story within the covers (it has a 4.22 rating on GoodReads) and I'm sold.

Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake by Sarah MacLean
Published: March 30, 2010
So yes, it's not YA. But I know several primarily YA bloggers who have read this and raved about it. Do not you love that girl's dress? I do. My experience with historical romance is VERY limited, so I think I need to widen my horizons a little bit and venture out from present day paranormal YA. I do have this one sitting on my shelves, waiting for the day when I tell YA that it's time to take a break. I often wonder when that day will come! (A little secret. When I first read the title of this book, I thought that they were legitimately referring to a rake. Like a leaf rake. Oh dear.)

  1. was thinking about reading the Rake as well.

  2. Nine Rules was SOOO good! It was my first historical romance read ever, and I loved it. AND! It did come highly recommend by Carrie Ryan, who is awesommmme.

Nevermore was one of my favorite reads last year, too. I can't wait to read Enshadowed. I can't believe we have to wait til January! :(

  3. i've seen burn bright at the shops and it looks really unforgettably completely awesome in the flesh.

i read the rake one this year (trying to branch out). i can see why ppl love it ~ but it still wasn't really my thing. lots of, erm, explicit sexytimes, haha.

  4. You already know my stance on Nevermore, so I won't talk about it again, lol. And I have Burn Bright on my tbr list as well, it stinks when books you really want to read are only released in certain countries!

  5. Sadly, I haven't read Nevermore yet, but I really want to. I will have to take it with me on Spring Break when I have time to read a bit more. Burn Bright looks like it may scare the crap out of me though. I am such a wimp when it comes to scary stories. Yeah, I was that girl that freaked out when reading Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark---that Bloody Mary one still scares me!

  6. Burn Bright sounds creepy scary.

  7. Ah! More Kelly Creagh!! I am so eager to read more about this story :-) Can't. Freaking. Wait.

  8. Nine rules looks like it could be a good one!

  9. I didn't really love Nevermore as much as you did, BUT I do like this cover much better!

  10. Nevermore was such a dark romantic book! The cover was also beautiful and Enshadowed is just as gorgeous. Let me know if the book gods come through for you--maybe they'll send me a copy too ;)

  11. I finished Nevermore this morning. And while I may not feel as strongly as you do about it, I am really looking forward to the next book. And some more Varen.
