Your Makeshift Bookmarks (1)

Once upon a time not too long ago, Jamie from The Perpetual Page Turner said to me "I enjoy your blog name, because I use all kinds of crazy crap for my bookmarks. You should totally have a feature where people can show off the random stuff they use!" (Or something along those lines.) Thus it was born. I contemplated the idea of doing a post where I showed off the stuff I used, but Jamie is awesome and suggested making it a meme.

Since Jamie is the one to credit for this, I thought I'd ask her to debut the feature.

Isn't she hilarious? I think so :)

  2. I think my favorite is the to do list. It's too cute!

    Great new future.

  3. My students tend to use (clean) kleenex as bookmarks. We'll get loads of books returned in a day with bits of tissues sticking out of them.

  4. You should include a link to her blog as well so that we can go check it out :)

  6. Haha, what a fun feature! I have used my to do list as a bookmark before too! Love the paint card.

Now I am curious about what your grossest makeshift bookmark has been... :)

  8. Aw thanks you guys :P

And Jami...my grossest makeshift bookmark = my fingernail. I was at the beach and literally had NOTHING with me and didn't want to dogear the book because it wasn't mine...so I bit off my fingernail and used it...but promptly found something else so I could remove the fingernail.

You all need to ask Jen about HER grossest makeshift bookmark!! :))

  9. LOL!! That's hilarious. I think my grossest has been toilet paper. CLEAN toilet paper. But I am a germaphobe so even that grossed me out. lol

Yes Jen, do share yours! :)

  11. This sounds like great fun -- however, I'm probably not a candidate -- I have "real" bookmarks ALL OVER. On every table and desk in my house, in my purse, in my book bag, and on my bedside table. I love book marks, and am somewhat of a collector -- but I use them all. I could participate by showing you some of the really OLD ones I use, and also ones that I've found in books that have been returned to the library -- yeah! That will be fun...

    looking forward to it.

  12. Ha, love this! I can NEVER find the bookmarks I buy so I just leave books open facing down but I'm definitely gonna start using random things! :)

  13. What a fun feature! I use the closest flat thing around to mark my books. My husband, however, has a bookmark "rotation." Crazy person.

  14. Jamie - you are so fun!

And Jen - I love this idea, because all of my books have radom things in them. I found a lottery ticket in one that I had put down a few weeks ago and I had won a free ticket when I finally checked it! :)

  16. That was fantastic! I do stuff like this all the time, too. I have all kinds of pretty bookmarks, but always use bits of everything else instead!

  19. I also just use whatever is around. I am checking books out the library a lot right now so the receipts from that is what it mainly is right now. I have a small drawing one of my sisters doodled when she was bored and I love her so much that I just switch that between books that I own. I used airline ticket stubs and theater tickets a lot. I like to leave the random bookmark in the book (if it is a book I own) so that the next time I pick it up to read it, I will remember the experiences of the first time and what was going on in my life at that time.
