Ordinary Reading Levels: Exceeds Expectations.

That's right: I've officially exceeded my goal of reading 100 books in 2011.
Actually, my total is at 103 right now. Honestly, this is crazy because it's been the busiest year OF MY ENTIRE EXISTENCE and I barely remember any of it, yet I've read more books this year than any other year. Isn't it crazy that 1 in 4 people did not read a SINGLE BOOK (in 2006?) We avid book readers are straight-up badasses. My husband actually brags about how much I read, which I think is super sweet. I know it's not as much as some other people, who have exceeded 200 books (hat tip to your magnificence!) But I'm pretty effing excited.

Here's hoping I can make it to 110 by December 31!

  1. You know I totally just got sucked into the internet black hole after clicking your post on google reader, then clicking that article, then googling about and ended up on this NEA report called To Read Or Not To Read with all these statistics. So I guess my point here is that I know have something to make my day go by much much faster.

    Thanks.

AND BEST OF LUCK HITTING 110! You can do it Jen! Especially when you have some really compelling books to read :-D

  2. That statistic is crazy - I can't imagine reading under 100 books a year, ha.

  3. 1 in 4?? That's sort of sad. READ MORE, PEOPLE!

Congrats on surpassing your goal! I had mine set at 125 and I reached that in October. The sadness for me is that I haven't progressed much since that number was reached. I have only finished ONE book so far this month. ONE! That is almost like not reading at all in my eyes. I am hoping that my holiday break will be a mega-readathon like week as normal. I wanted to try for 150 sine I passed 125, but alas, I am still in the low 130s.

If you get to 110 I should force myself to get to 150! Ha!

  4. Holy crap that's pathetic. Seriously, nonreaders what the heck is wrong with you? I'm so glad my mom converted me.

Oh, and I don't know if I mentioned this in passing, but I friggin' love you. I see you took my advice *pokes currently reading* Book one isn't my favorite, because I just have a bad thing for narrators that are NOT the Drake bros. But you will soon see what I mean =D

  6. Nice job! I planned on 80, have 87, and am now hoping for 90.

A big step up from 57 last year because I got a kindle.

  7. Oh my gosh, congratulations!! It always makes me sad when people are like "LOL I DON'T READ!" because they don't know what they're missing out on. Maybe I'll make it my goal to read 100 books next year. Good luck on 110!!

  9. That's ah-mazing.

And it's all about priorities, right? I mean you worked hard, but you treated yourself to a restful hobby... and one that expands the mind and heart! I love it.

I need to MAKE more time, as you obviously do. Kudos!

  11. Good for you! I set my goal at 100 and I'm currently 9 books behind. It probably won't happen, but hopefully I can get closer :] Congrats on reaching your goal in such a busy year :D

  13. Congrats on meeting your goal!

Those statistics are crazy! I don't understand not reading any books in a year. I feel like a slacker if I don't read a book in a week.

  14. That is awesome! And I love that you posted this picture :D. I too have read more this year than any other year (as an adult) and have *almost* met my 2011 goal of 120 books (I upped it from 100 back in Sept/Oct). For reference, I only read 35 books last year! So... yeah. We're badass. :)
