Jen: WHY Haven't I Finished These Series Yet?!

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, of which Jamie is the mastermind.

1) Jessica Darling Series
DAMNIT HELL. Carla is going to kick my ass for this one. I know, I know, you guys. I've read the first four and loved them. Like...LOVED THEM. These books glamoured me with their legit, quirky voice and MARCUS FLUTIE. I don't want to say goodbye to this series. I have Perfect Fifth to my left, giving me the sexy eyes, and I just haven't done it yet.

2) Ruby Oliver Series
Yet again, a world and an environment I don't want to let go of. Part of this is because I haven't found book four at Half Price Books, but a part of me will not accept that Ruby's story is done. NOPE.

3) Pretty Little Liars Series
I read the first eight books. Ahem. That's enough. I'm watching the show now. The show has an Ezra that I can look at. You win, TV.

4) Mercy Thompson Series
TOO LONG BETWEEN BOOKS. But damn, I loved these books. Mercy is my kind of girl and plus, you know, she can fix my car.

5) Vampire Diaries Series
Read the first four. Anything beyond that? RIDICULOUS. Plus, TV has Ian Somerhalder. TV: 2. Books: 0.

6) Delirium Series
I have Pandemonium on my shelf, but honestly? I'll just wait until Requiem comes out. I'm going to do a whole series re-read and I want all three of them lined up so I can knock 'em out consecutively. Wham, bam, thank ya ma'am.

7) House of Night Series
Barf. A million times barf.

8) The Mortal Instruments Series
I thought City of Glass had a perfectly acceptable ending. I see no need for more.

9) Twilight Series (ahem, SAGA)
WHERE IS MIDNIGHT SUN, MEYER? IT'S NOT OVER YET.

10) The Mediator Series
I have the first two in a bind-up. Why the crap isn't Harper Teen releasing anymore bind-ups?

  1. I agree with Midnight Sun!? Where art thou? I have just begun the Jessica Darling series and I am enjoying it. A lot of these series I am in the middle of.

  2. Agreed on many counts. I tried to read past Book 4 of VD and...it was so bad. I may try again, but it was SO. BAD. Still haven't read on in Ruby Oliver...or past book two in TMI...and The House of Night just turned to shit for me after book 3, and I do not plan on rekindling that any time soon.

  3. Love your list! I started reading The Lying Games, but gave up after book 2 because they has hot guys on the show, haha! Btw, Ezra? Yes, please!

I need me some more Midnight Sun like yesterday! I didn't really understand Twilight until I read what there is of MS. I think it makes more sense from Edward's side. Honestly, it'd be a dream come true if Stephenie wrote the entire Saga from E's pov. Fingers crossed!!!

  4. I agree for House of Night and Vampire Diaries! Glad I'm not the only one ^^

  5. I haven't continued on with the Delirium Series - but hopefully I'll get to Pandemonium soon.

  6. I haven't read Perfect Fifths yet either! I think I'm putting it off because I don't want it to end.

  8. City of Ashes did have a perfectly acceptable ending, you're right. I think you'd be disappointed like me if you read the 4th book in that series.

I've read the first four Vampire Diary books, too, and they really didn't hold a candle to the TV show! And you're right -- you can't swoon over Damon in the books, it must be done on TV!

The House of Night series is just getting too long. I liked them in the beginning, but now they're just too young and I think the whole thing should've ended many books ago.

    Thanks for sharing!

    1. you should read book 5 gurl, you totes should. I read book 4 and was all I AM GOING TO KILL YOU WITH FIRE and well, book 5 changed my mind to a mere I want to just burn you just a little, enough so that it hurts but doesn't actually leave a scar or require medical treatment.

  9. also I hit send because i was SO EFFIN INDIGNANT, but the mercy thompson are like DA BOMB and please please please scratch house of night and vampire diaries from any future list, unless that list is 'books to use as kindling when the Apocalypse is upon us and the earth goes all the day after tomorrow on us'

(also, we are going to have chats soon about TMI because I've had a similar discussion with Ginger and I'm keen to hear your thoughts)

  10. I would barf on that mentioned series with you, lol. I still can't believe you haven't finished Jessica Darling. READ PERFECT FIFTHS NOW. Seriously. It's the best ending of all endings of all time.

  11. Geez, I love the Mercy books. Mercy, Adam, Stefan, Bran, they make my urban fantasy-loving heart happy.

  12. GEEEZ. Having Carla as a co-blogger, while I'm sure is delightful, is KIND OF SCARY BECAUSE THEN SHE GETS TO KNOW ALL YOUR SECRETS AND LAYS ON THE GUILT THICK! *shudders*

Teehee I love you Carla. MWAH.

SO I'm glad you haven't finished JD either so I don't feel as bad. But I'm going to hope Carla doesn't read this because I haven't even started the Ruby Oliver series though she put it on her post it of Books Jamie Must Read. SOo I need to get to that before she realizes I haven't!

  13. Lol, I love that you included Twilight on your list.

  14. You are so right - it takes an eternity for a new Mercy Thompson book to come out. And lol at House of Night - I feel the same way!

  15. Yes! City of Glass was a great ending to TMI. I have read City of Fallen Angels, but I have to say I'm a bit disappointed that she has continued the series. I do plan to read City of Lost Souls and City of Heavenly Fire (in 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!), but I really liked the conclusion of City of Glass. I'm actually ready for Cassandra Clare to write something other than shadowhunter.

    Here's my TTT

  16. Pretty Little Liars and House of Night were both on my list too! But I'm probably going to finish both eventually lol...

  17. Ah, Delirium is on my list, too... but not for the same reason. I'm never going back there. Luckily, I think Oliver has improved tremendously with her middle grade books. Loved Liesl and Po, and can't wait for The Spindlers.

Great list - thanks for sharing!

  18. Stupid House of Night series. Lol your comment is hilarious.

  19. I totally agree with you! Pretty Little Liars and Vampire Diaries make better TV series than book series. Sad, but true. You made much further progress with both than I did!

  20. I need to read Pandemonium too, because of the killer-ending from Delirium. But I keep hearing this one also has a cliffhanger, so I'm trying to wait.. It's hard :p

  21. You haven't finished Sloppy Firsts!?!?! I can't even handle you right now.

  22. Bahaha. I remember when I was completely obsessed with the injustice of not having Midnight Sun. I have a feeling if I tried to read it now I'd just laugh my head off at the angst, though :P
As for PLL, I read the entire first series and when they announced that there'd be MORE books because the tv series was so popular I was like "ummm...No."
