Book Blogger Woes (4)

I am a huge fan of First World Problems. I'll be the first person to scroll through their Twitter and laugh out loud to myself, thinking "yes. I DO THAT. In ALL of life." And honestly, guys? I do it in blogging, too. A LOT. I get all uppity about the most ridiculous things. Thus, Book Blogger Woes was born. Every so often, I'll be sharing a different blogger pain pertaining to all of the sulking... but in a comical way.

(Please tell me I'm not the only one who feels these things. You just have to. I can't be the only one.)

So, you see that book you've been dying to read forever, YOU KNOW THE ONE, on NetGalley. Holy crap, this is life-making. You request immediately, hoping that you're on the auto-approve list or that one of the magical publisher NetGalley workers are getting that little PING right now that your whole purpose in life is to read this book.
So you wait.
And wait.
And wait.
And wait.
And YAY, it's 3 weeks later and you finally get that approval! You click on the title to download to your phone/Kindle/Nook/miscellaneous e-reader.

"This title has been archived."

  1. Ugh! I feel your pain! It happens to me more often than not. I always figured that it's because of my lollygagging ways..I always read the books I have in print first. But maybe not?

  6. UGH! YES! I do like that they now share the date it will be archived, but still it's so frustrating sometimes!

  7. I hate that SO much! I also hate when the archival date is more than 2 months before the release date but they don't want you to post your review more than 30 days early. Frustrating!

  9. Man, that would just suck! I haven't run into that problems because I'm so excited I go the book I go on NG at my first available chance and send it to my kindle. My biggest problem is I request wait, wait and wait some more only to be turned down. Sad day.

  10. I don't think this bothers me so much as being told that I wasn't accepted to review a title ... and then they don't give a specific reason. It would be nice to know what I need to add to my profile!

But still ... this can be frustrating!

  13. This JUST happened to me two minutes ago! I received approval for a book about half an hour ago, and then when I went onto the site, it said it was archived today. I'm so sad!

  14. This happens to me all the time! I've given up requesting books from NetGalley because of this and I usually don't get approved for titles that I really, really want to read anyway.

  15. Oh my goodness! YES. This happens to me a TON. I always feel extra awful, especially because they're often books I've really, really, really wanted to read.

  16. Story of my freakin' life.

That happened to me once, but then the book was like 4.99 on Amazon for Kindle, so I just bought it and now because I purchased it, I don't feel a pressing need to review it.
